An empty hog barn room with steel pen gates and slatted floors

ServicesHog barns

Hog barn washing, room by room.

We wash and disinfect hog rooms between batches, room by room: ceilings and walls, pens and gates, feeders, slats and floors, plus the room fans and heaters. Our mobile rig brings hot and cold water pressure washers and hoses to your barn, and we hook up to your water.

01 · When to book

Every batch, room by room.

Tell us when the pigs go in and when the room must be ready. We’ll get back to you to agree a day and a price.

  • Every group, about 5–8 weeks

Nursery roomsAbout 2–5 hours of washing for a 10–20 pen room, after a 1.5–2 hour soak*

Then at least 24 hours to dry (vet guidance). The room has to be dry and warm before the next pigs go in.

  • Every group, about 3–4 months

Finishing rooms1–2 days per room or barn section*

All in, all out: the whole room between groups, then at least 24 hours to dry (vet guidance).

  • November to March

Rooms in the coldAdd half a day to a day of drying*

Keep the barn heat on through the wash and the drying. Below 10 °C, many disinfectants need a longer contact time. In one study, heated rooms were dry in about 48 hours; unheated rooms stayed damp for up to six days.

02 · What we wash

Every room, top to bottom.

Tell us which rooms. We wash top to bottom, so nothing drips onto clean pens.

  • Nursery and finishing rooms
  • Ceilings, liners and walls, from the top down
  • Pens, partitions and gates
  • Feeders and troughs
  • Slats and floors
  • Ceiling inlets
  • Room and pit fans: shrouds, guards and louvres, with the motors covered first
  • Heaters: housings and hoods, off and cool first; gas work stays with your licensed gas technician
  • Disinfecting after the wash: a Health Canada product with a DIN, at the label rate and contact time; your vet's choice, or one we agree with you

You do

Before we arrive

  1. Get the pigs out and the solids scraped.
  2. Start a soak 1.5–2 hours ahead*, or ask us to do it.
  3. Shut the feed lines, empty the feeders, and take out heat lamps and mats.
  4. Open up the gates, penning and pins.
  5. Cover controllers, panels, outlets, fan motors and heaters, and turn the power off where we'll spray.
  6. Keep the pit level low and the barn fans running.
  7. In winter, keep the barn heat on through the wash and the drying.
  8. Show us the hydrant or tap, where the wash water drains, and where the rig can park.
  9. If your vet sets a disinfectant, tell us the product, rate and contact time.

We do

On wash day

  1. Bring the rig: hot and cold water pressure washers and hoses. We hook up to your water.
  2. Wash from the ceiling down: inlets and fans, walls, pens and gates, feeders, then slats and floors. If the room isn't soaked yet, we soak it first.
  3. Use soap or disinfectant only where it's needed, matched to your farm's specs. Animal-safe products only.
  4. Check the washed room before we disinfect; walk it with us if you like.
  5. Disinfect the clean, drained room at the label rate and contact time: your vet's product, or one we agree with you.
  6. Need a wash record? Tell us when you book and we'll agree what it shows.
  7. Pencil in the next wash when you make it a repeat booking.

Talk to a hog farm near you.

Most farmers hear about us from a neighbour. Tell us your county and your hog barn, and we’ll ask a hog customer nearby if they’re happy to take your call. No sales pitch from us.

04 · Pricing

A price before we book.

Every hog barn is different, so we price yours after a few questions or photos. These are the things that change the price:

  • How many rooms, and how many pens in each
  • Room type: nursery or finishing
  • Build-up, and whether the room was scraped and soaked
  • Slats, penning and feeders to work around
  • Disinfecting, and whose product
  • Water on site: hydrant flow and how far the hoses have to reach
  • Drying time and heat in winter
  • Room fans, pit fans and heaters to wash or cover

When should I book a room wash?

When the pigs go in. That sets the wash day before the room empties. On a steady pig flow, make it a repeat booking and we'll pencil in each wash. Short notice? Call or text: if we have room, we'll come.

How long does a hog room take?

About 2–5 hours of washing* for a 10–20 pen nursery room, after a 1.5–2 hour soak, and 1–2 days* for a finishing room. Build-up changes it, and the room still needs time to dry. Your quote gives the time for your rooms.

Do I need to supply the water?

Yes. Our rig carries hot and cold water pressure washers and hoses, not water. We hook up to your hydrant or tap. If your well is slow or also waters the pigs, tell us when you book.

Hot water or cold? Soap, or just water?

Both: our washers run hot or cold. A cold-water soak softens what's dried on, and hot water washes about twice as fast as cold, as OMAFA's farrowing-room guide puts it. Soap or disinfectant goes on only when it's needed, matched to your farm's specs. Animal-safe products only.

Do you disinfect, and with what?

Yes, after the wash, because disinfectant doesn't work on dirt. We use a Health Canada-registered product (look for the DIN) at the label rate and contact time: your vet's choice, or a product we agree with you.

Do you clean the room fans, pit fans and heaters?

Yes, as part of a room wash: fan shrouds, guards and louvres, ceiling inlets and heater housings. Fan motors, heaters and controllers get covered first, as OMAFA advises, and gas work stays with your licensed gas technician.

Can you wash hog rooms in winter?

Yes. We washed nursery and finishing rooms in February 2026. Keep the barn heat on through the wash and the drying. Below 10 °C, many disinfectants need a longer contact time, so allow extra time.

Is it safe to power wash a room over a foaming pit?

Only with the barn fans on full and the ceiling inlets open, as the Ontario Pork pit-foam infosheet advises, because power washing disturbs the foam and releases manure gases. We wash from above the slats and don't go into the pit.

Where does the wash water go?

Down through the slats or floor drains into your manure pit, never the ditch. Show us where your drains run.
