The job
A Saturday in October, in a curtain-sided dairy barn. Holsteins ate at the feed barrier while long wands worked the ceiling overhead. By late morning the nearest liner panels were back to white, and you could see the line where the wand had been.
How we wash a dairy barn: we agree the sections and the order with you, around milking and any cow moves. We hook up to your water and take the ceiling and liners panel by panel with long wands, then the ridge vents, fans and head gates. Before we pack up, we walk the barn with you.

How we did it
- Morning · Set-upThe rig parked by the barn and hooked up to the farm’s water. We agreed the sections and the order with the farmer, around milking. The herd stayed in, eating at the feed barrier.
- Morning · Ceiling firstLong wands up at the ceiling from the feed alley, panel by panel, so nothing runs onto a section already washed.
- Midday · Ridge and linersThe ridge vents and trim washed, and the nearest liner panels back to white on both sides of the ridge.
- Afternoon · Down the barnWorking toward the far gable, then down to the fans and head gates, so the dirt only moves down.
- Evening · Walk-throughA walk through the barn with the farmer before we packed up, to touch up anything missed.
